5 Tips To Look Elegant Without Breaking The Bank

5 Tips To Look Elegant Without Breaking The Bank

I believe to look elegant and luxurious all we need is a clear mindset, a little bit of elbow grease and some imagination. You don’t need a billion dollars, labels or a degree in fashion to look elegant. You don’t need to get into credit card debt to have what you think will finally make you feel whole and luxurious. Baby girl, you are the one who adds value to the clothes! Things can be nice to have, but it’s not fun when our things have us! And when we can’t afford expensive things, we can feel trapped and feel like we aren’t worthy. And when we CAN afford expensive things, we quickly realize nothing satisfies. Suddenly you “need” more to make you feel good. But it’s all so temporary. No matter where you are in life, belief in Jesus is what gives us worth. I think we all to a certain point have believed a lie that we need this or that in order to feel beautiful and look elegant. Believe you me, I’ve had the credit card debt. I’ve had nothing and now I have an abundance of things but nothing satisfies my soul like having a relationship with Jesus; knowing I am loved because of God’s mercy and grace, in spite of how much I fail is freedom like I’ve never known before!! Knowing I’m enough just because of God’s radical, never-ending, absolutely miraculous love, has transformed my life. It’s changed my identity from a broke- broken- little Mexican Girl to a rich-grateful-free little Mexican Girl. I found true richness in Christ, the type of richness that moths can’t eat away.

Here are 5 tips I have learned on my own journey to being the best version of me. I pray these help you on your quest to feeling and looking great!

HOW TO FEEL AND LOOK ELEGANT

  1. MINDSET: What do you really believe about yourself? Mindset and belief is the most important aspect of feeling beautiful and enough in Christ. I know the struggle we as women face everyday questioning whether we are worth love and connection. I get the struggle of low-self esteem and self-sabotage. I might not understand you 100% but Jesus does. He knows what has hurt your little heart to make you feel like you don’t matter. But here’s the truth; You belong to God and you matter and you get to be all that God has called you to be just because you are you! I know the struggle we as women face falling into the trap of envy and jealousy towards other women we view as “better” than us. Listen, there is no one better or worse than you; we are all worth something to God and he is a God of abundance. If she shines SO CAN YOU. We are capable of giving value even when we don’t look like “HER”! You have value to this give this world with just being you! Comparison and envy are poison and we all struggle with them from time to time. No point in beating ourselves up about it, we’ll just decide to not dwell in that type of negativity! We must choose to focus on what God has given us. I often say to myself when I’m falling into the comparison trap, “I am a princess in God’s court I am able to see her as his beloved princess too. He is an abundant father and we all can be amazing together. Her beauty or talent or ability doesn’t take away from mine.” In fact, when you start praising other women for who they are, I believe you become more beautiful yourself! So try it. Say kind things to yourself and to someone else out on the street. I bet you you’ll feel so energized, elegant and beautiful! I believe elegance starts from within!

  2. GROOMING IS YOUR BEST FRIEND: SIster, you are so capable to learn how to groom that beautiful body, hair, nails, skin that God has gifted you! Think that when you mindfully groom yourself you are saying, “thank you” to your maker! If your WHY becomes clear for taking time for yourself, you will give reverence to God who has made you! You’ll be able to maintain a more realistic routine in which taking care of yourself becomes a good habit because you know you are worth taking care of! And that you are. God loves you so much and he’s made you in his image!

Some practical ways to look polished: I can not tell you how much more elegant we look when we have put a little effort into our cleanliness first! Find a hairstyle you love to rock, even if it’s one hairstyle you learn on YouTube or from a friend it will be a skill you will use so much so invest time into learning how to style your own hair! Do your makeup and if you need to learn, again, invest some time to learn a few beauty looks that suit your face! Or if you 'don’t like wearing makeup, make sure to give attention to your skin with a great skin-care routine suitable for your skin type! I promise you it will go a long, long way! Did you know that grooming your nails builds self-confidence? I’m not making this up, google it! Even just giving yourself the most basic mani-pedi at home will make a big impact on your overall look!

  3. FIND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE: Finding what style you are is a journey! I believe this video I created for you is super helpful in giving you the tools to discover your style! Having a plan is crucial to looking elegant without breaking the bank! But again if you’re still here it tells me you’re not afraid of taking charge of your life and doing the steps that will lead to your success. It takes courage to be YOU! So I’m cheering you on, sister! I believe in you!

  4. WEAR NEUTRAL COLORS: I know you might not like to hear this if you love color! I’m not saying never wear colors you like. What I am saying is most of the outfits I find so elegant when I’m pinning away on Pinterest have all one thing in common; Neutral Colors. Haha Make a color palette and keep color in your wardrobe that resonates with your personal style. But on the times when elegance is your #vibe than keep it neutral; colors like black, white, gray, taupe, camel, cream, ivory are such great hues to interject into your outfits that will bring elegance to your look regardless of if they came from the Thrift Store or anywhere else!

  5. A MONOCHROMATIC OUTFIT: I think that a monochromatic outfit like I’m wearing in this post is one of my go-to tips for when I don’t know what to wear but I want to look elegant and put together. Choose your outfit in the same color and bring in interest by adding texture with different fabrics and accessories. This is my most favorite way to look elegant without breaking the bank. You don’t need expensive clothes you just need to know who to style them! So play around one evening if you’d like and see how many outfits of one color you can put together. When you play with your clothes you create good memories and you can see what you feel good in before you have to actually get dressed for an event or occasion.

Thank you so much for being with me today! I love you and may you know you’re elegant no matter what! You are safe you belong and you matter!
