Beloved friend, are you ready to save time and money, honey? Okay, buckle up!
There is so much to be said about making a luxury statement in your home with a you custom DIY flower bouquet that costs you less than $25! My delight will be you taking the grocery store by storm and creating your Trader Joe’s flowers look expensive, like you just had a “florist delivery” to your home. Mkay!?
We will be starting off with a vision. You can watch my Summer Vlog to get inspired and get some tips on how to create a lovely (budget-friendly), luxurious-looking floral arrangement! Or read through these pro-tips to get your flower arrangement skills up a notch!
TRADER JOE’S FLOWERS INTO 3 DIFFERENT BOUQUETS
Step 1: Create a Visual Anchor
We always start with the end in mind. If you don’t know what you’re aiming for, you will quickly get lost in a sea of choices when flower shopping. I suggest creating a small mood board with three or four inspiration photos of your dream bouquet.
Once you have a clear vision, you can shop with total confidence and easily find the best stems for your arrangement.
Save the images straight into your camera roll for easy access. (Remember you're a warrior-flower-princess! Watch out! )
Focus on the color mood, shape, and feel of your creation!
Step 2: Decode Your Inspiration
Identify the core components of your dream arrangement and decide on 3-4 different variants of stems that go with the overall color, mood, and vibe of your dream bouquet.
Pick a Focal Flower: Like the eye-catching, gorgeous star of the show. (Think peonies, ranunculuses, roses, or lilies)
Line/ Filler flowers: Think of adding texture through blooms that add height and volume. We want juxtaposition!
Greenery: The framework that holds the shape and adds movement. (I love using eucalyptus, Italian Ruscus, tree fern, and olive branch)
Step 3: Shop with Confidence (At the Market)
“The Lord is with her she will not fail.” Psalm 46:5 Our confidence doesn’t come from ourselves. It comes from the Lord and he can give you wisdom for ANYTHING. Let the Holy Spirit be a guide to you for every decision you make. Even the flowers you bring home. Jesus means so much freedom to rely on him and to know that in HIM we are enough so therefore our flower choice will also be enough.
Make sure to be flexible with your photos. You might not find exactly what you're looking for, but let it inspire your choice!
Stay open to what is available and take your time choosing, but at the same time, it will never be perfect, for only JESUS is perfect. So make a decision and GO SISTER, GO!
Pro-tip: Place the stems together in your hand while shopping to preview the look.
Step 4: Prep and Arrange
Pray that God would help you enjoy yourself through this process and allow you to be like a little free girl doing this for YOU AND THE LORD. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23-24
Clean the stems and cut them at an angle immediately upon arriving home.
Let the flowers hydrate in clean water before building the arrangement.
Mix in the flower “food” into your watered vasesCut off all the plastic and rubber bands and set your workspace like an organized champ!
Consider adding interest by varying heights.
Trust your initial vision while allowing room for creative adjustments.
Celebrate a job well done!
