#1 Fall Outfit | Casual Vibes: Coffee + Farmer’s Market

Hello beloved friend! How are you? I am feeling so grateful for my life. I hope you are filling your heart and mind with gratitude for what you have right this minute. For me it’s not easy to go to gratitude, I have a stubborn brain that wants to offer me all the negative of life, the way I can’t trust myself or others, the way my life ISN’T going like “theirs”, the way things are falling apart or are being a challenge, the way my husband didn’t do that ONE thing!

In order to fight my very negative thoughts, I have to focus my thoughts and energy on seeing the good things in my life and the things that I DO have! The moments that might be seemingly small but important. And the things my husband DID do and I could say thank you to HIM for. It’s all a choice, isn’t it?

So with todays gratitude, I want you to know how grateful I am for you. I’ve been writing to you for (almost) seven years, it’s our blog’s anniversary in November and it will be seven years of getting to connect with you, create with and for you and share this life’s journey. It’s been an honor and I am so grateful that you are here. My mission is to inspire you to keep your hope up even in the midst of hard seasons and that you’d find a way to prioritize your self-care a little each day!

I know for me self-care comes in many ways. One of my favorites ways to care for myself is to actually get dressed for the day. We just did a fantastic video to give you 8 outfit ideas for church! I hope you watch it. Listen, I love getting dressed, even if all I’m gonna do is go to Target! Or the farmers market. Or to get coffee for the day. Well, dressing well doesn’t have to be so confusing and since one of my favorite things in life is to see how many outfits I can make from the same clothing: Today I have a special treat of sharing how to turn your one button-down collar shirt and style it in three ways! Listen we are in a tricky season with finances and I want to support you in all that I can.

I’ve always loved styling things over and over because as a kid I grew up with very little means, so I had to get very creative about my outfits. I was poor but not when I could figure out how to make a really cute outfit happen, girl! That’s the joy of it all. Style has nothing to do with how fancy your clothes are. Even now that I have abundance, I don’t want to squander the money the Lord has placed in our hands. I still love to buy stuff just as any other gal who loves fashion and beauty. However, now knowing that “stuff” won’t make me happy.”Stuff “ won’t make me feel worthy. “Stuff is just that, stuff. Now, I am much less interested in my possessions because those things are fleeting. We take nothing with us when we go from this earth, so I want my treasure to be in something else other than my things. I have changed a lot because that wasn’t my heart’s position a while ago. Before wanting stuff was all I could think of. I could never have enough. Thank God for his all-consuming power to change us with his love!

Now I feel different and more centered and sober about having “things”. Don't get me wrong, I’m still a person who loves shoes. If I see a shoe I love and I have a budget in my fun money, I might still get that shoe. But it’s not a feeling of impulsion anymore; like shopping addiction used to feel like.

If I can describe a word of growth for me this year it’s been; CONTENTMENT

Being grateful for what I do have. And wise with our money. I like taking my time on shopping for things now. I think much more when I’m going to purchase something.

Back to style; The shirt and pants pictured are from Arizia. I can’t link them below. Just so you know this is still available and I LOVE both of them. The pants are so good I also have them in black. My most worn pant this year! For the silk brown shirt, I did shop at other places in case you want different price points and the brown silk shirts are below for you!

#2 Fall Outfit | Date Night Edition

This look would be something I would wear on a date out with my boo! So I encourage you to go on a hot date and get yourself nice and fancy, who cares if you might just be going to Taco Bell. Listen it’s the intention of who you want to become. Dress like the person you aspire to be and you’ll become her!

For this look wanted to give you something you can wear to a date! I love the pairing of brown and gray, I think it looks so nice together. It softens the whole look. I also absolutely love how these Jimmy Choo Bing mules go with the brown! They are such fun shoes! But not worth being in debt. So you can always pair this outfit with a nude pump, or a light pink pump.

This Pochette Mettis handbag is one of my biggest saves for a luxury bag. We saved for a long time to buy this and it has been such a delight to own after years on my wishlist. My husband gave it to me for, my birthday, Christmas, Mother’s day, Easter, and Labor day. hahaha ! I do understand why it’s such a loved luxury handbag and why it’s the price it is. I would recommend it if it’s in your budget to buy without getting into any credit card debt for it. A bag isn’t worth being in anxiety over.

However, I am a total, “save for that BIG purchase!” kind of gal so I encourage you to start a little envelope for this if you do desire to have one, one day. I believe saving is one of the best things I’ve ever learned how to do. I love to GIVE, SAVE and spend wisely. Back to the bag, I have been so pleased with this particular purchase. I got mine preloved and I’ve linked one that’s also pre-loved.

When styling a basic outfit in different ways. Think of what pieces you can layer. Adding a vest to an outfit completely changes the look! And vests are trending right now child! You can take a look at our Fall Trends video and post for more trends to add to your wardrobe!

And knowing that you can play with those clothes you have to build more and more outfits is all it takes to start an imagination journey with the rest of your wardrobe!

Anyone can look like a million bucks even when the labels or the “things” aren’t of great value. The trick is dressing in a manner that suits your body type. Going for real fabric such as linen, cotton, and silk. Anything real and neutral will always make you look elevated, honey! And listen, you can find those at a thrift store or any store you go to make sure you check labels before you buy. Stay away from buying things like polyester and synthetic fabrics. Make sure you take care of the clothing by ironing and steaming your outfit. And your physical hygiene makes a big impact as well. Being well-groomed makes you look classy!

But it is also about the heart. What you believe about yourself translates through what you wear. You are what is valuable and the clothes on your back or that handbag on your shoulder don’t add to your worth. Let yourself FEEL and BELIEVE that you are worthy and precious and valuable before you get dressed. Jesus has given his life for you to see yourself through his incredible sacrifice on the cross and it was finished. All that you wonder if God will run away from in you, has been washed clean by Jesus in his life, death, and resurrection you are made worthy, free and you belong to Jesus.

"So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." John 8:36

#3 Fall Outfit | Office and Meeting Day Edit

The last outfit is totally something I would wear to an office job if I had one. It’s business vibes but you can always make it even more by adding a blazer and a nice coat if you’re someplace cold.

Using a belt to accessorize a basic button-down shirt, blazer, coat, or dress will always add that extra vibe! You can make any outfit feel a million times more tailored by trying to belt it. Play with the belts you have in your closet. See what you have and figure out what looks best for your frame, placement-wise. I like to put my belts higher on my waist.

Choosing accessories for your clothing can sometimes be tricky. I will give you some of the rules I go by.

  • Find the same color accessories and see if they look good together. (ex. Here we did all black and I paired the sunnies, the bag, the shoe and the scarf in that color)

  • You can try to match your bag to your shoes, but that might be frustrating if you don’t have a match. I say pull from the outfit what colors you’re wearing and try to match a shade that compliments that tone.

  • Less is more.

  • I also think. What is my ONE showstopper? And I pair everything else down to be more of a “supporting role” ex. If my earings are the thing, I go dainty with the necklace.

Fashion can be silly because, in essence, it’s all about being like a child and playing with your clothes not caring about what people will think but what you’ll be excited to be wearing. I encourage you to test things out at home before you go out! But play play play. Try try try. There’s no right or wrong. Ask these questions as you get dressed: Does this look good or not to me? Do I feel comfortable in this? And, is this outfit going to support my day and what do I have to do?

At the end of the day;

YOU ARE ENOUGH.

Not matter what size you are, the budget you have to spend on clothes, the way you look. You are beloved and nothing can make God run away from you. He loves you and he isn’t ashamed of you. He is rejoicing over you with a smile on his face saying,

“That’s my daughter, I made her in my image and I love what I made.”

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him, we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. “ Romans 8: 14-17

You are an heir to Christ; which means you are a princess.

Dress like you mean it, love!
