Hello, beloved friend!! I am so excited you are here! How are you?! Wow. We survived and hopefully will thrive from these crazy past two years of this pandemic life! Listen, we are here. That’s something to celebrate! I am so grateful that you are taking the time today to give yourself some self-love by reading a post that is encouraging. I pray that as you read the word I have for you today you’d be propelled and inspired to rest. Even when it’s a NEW YEAR. Even when you want to do all you can to do be the “new you” sometimes it doesn’t work out and we are filled with great regret at the end of December and we decide that we indeed didn’t quite hit the mark and that we’re going to TRY really hard this year.

So we set out with goals and resolutions only to be utterly disappointed on day 4 of January that we bit off way more than we could chew.

Sound familiar?

I have an idea.

Wanna have a year of just focusing on being gentle and deciding who you want to BE instead of ALL you need to change or produce or accomplish?

Your worth isn’t measured by pounds or a tag on a piece of cloth.

Your worth isn’t determined by your Aunt Petunia’s opinion about you.

Your worth isn’t in the job or title you hold.

Your worth isn’t diminished by your failures

Your value does not change if you’re in a dark season.

Your value isn’t measured by your production or lack thereof.

Your value isn’t in your view of yourself.

Your worth is in Jesus and that is something that AUTOMATICALLY makes you rich. In heart and spirit. “She is worth far more than rubies.” Proverbs 31:10 He is your value and your worth and nothing and no one can take him from you. Not even YOU. You can’t mess up enough times for his patience to be exhausted. There is so much that you have access to through a personal relationship with Jesus. His love. His unconditional love for you is what your heart really needs. And you can be sure, Jesus will pursue you all day long because you are very important to him.

That value and worth is something that you are seeking outside of you and it’s easy to try to at this time of year, make so many “resolutions” to feel worthy and in control, but the reality is, we are never in control. Only God is. What a perfect example than this past couple of years. So if you’re anything like me I want to give my heart the opportunity to relax into the power of God and trust the EVEN WHEN I DON’T UNDERSTAND. He is working. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.“ Romans 8:28

When you sit back and BEHOLD Christ. And the absolute acceptance and belonging his love provides your heart; When you behold that he gives you his love freely with needing NOTHING in return, a sticky love that will never leave you, a love that will never go away; there is a freedom that comes over you or will come over you. And instead of worrying, you’ll start to feel trust. Even if you’re like me and have #TrustIssues

Maybe this year you need to just need Jesus. Is that okay? For one whole year can you just focus on being intentional at bringing your need to Christ and have him meet ALL of your needs with his abundance, grace, mercy, and hope?

Let yourself have the ability to abide in God. Just be tucked into his wing. I’m not going to lie. I still made goals and I still prayed for vision and a word to focus on for 2022. But I’m holding all my “goals’ loosely as I just PRESS INTO BEING MINDFUL each day and noticing and enjoying my actual everyday life that is ordinary. That is my biggest intention for the year. Can I truly just enjoy what I already have right this second? And can I focus on being God’s daughter and just that?

God is miraculous and YES he is abundant. I will STILL BE expecting big miracles, breakthroughs, and for God to do what only He can do; but I’m going to let go and let him be in control.

I want to stop waiting to lose these Covid 20 to enjoy my clothes and my body. You know no matter what, I’m starting to really believe that my body is beautiful at any size and worthy of love and respect for getting me through this extremely painful season and pretty much my entire LIFE!

I want to stop waiting for that door to open to feel successful.

I want to stop waiting for my life to look and feel perfect to be grateful.

I want to stop thinking I have so much time and I will live my days with intention and purpose.

I want to stop believing that I don’t deserve the riches that God has offered me.

If you’re ready for a NEW way to do the NEW year, just hold on.

I’m going to write down some prompts for you to journal and to set out a mindset of JUST BEING YOURSELF IN 2022. And see how that serves you this year if you too are tired of this same o’l way of doing a new year.

JOURNAL PROMPTS FOR a NEW INTENTION THIS NEW YEAR

Did you feel regret this past few weeks as the new year started? Why do you think?

How is your heart right now? NO, Really WHAT are you feeling?

What do you think God would say to you about the challenges you’re facing right now?

Do you measure your worth by your production?

Do you have a perfectionist mentality? If you answered yes, you can read the prayer below.

PRAYER: “Lord, if my friend is gripped by the illusion of perfection I pray that you’d reveal to her that only your son Jesus is perfect and that by his sacrifice she can see herself through Christ’s love. In your name, I pray Jesus, Amen.”

How have you handled the failure of unmet goals or expectations from past year resolutions?

Are you a gentle person towards yourself? Why or why not?

What would Jesus say to you about giving yourself grace right now?

Who do you want to BE in 2022?

My hunch friend is that you and I don’t need any more information on how to set goals. We know how to do that, we know how to push and push and push. What we perhaps haven’t learned yet is how to rest in God, trust that he’s in control, and enjoy BEING who we are. If you need a doctor’s note giving you permission this year to focus on your heart rather than your production, consider it done. Although I’m not really a doctor. But I’m an actor, so I can play one on TV. haha I want you to find excellence this year. I do, I just believe with everything we’ve been through this season it’s imperative that we focus on healing and being rather than doing. The doing will get done no matter what. You’ll still be accomplishing things even if you’re not “forcing” yourself to some strict plan I encourage you to BE.

Here’s who I want to BE; I want to be free. I want to be loving. I want to be interested. I want to be kind. I want to be gentle. I want to be grateful. I want to be mindful. I want to be slow. I want to be a friend. I want to be healthy. I want to be fruitful. I want to be intentional. I want to be of service. I want to be silly. I want to be childlike and find wonder in the small things. I want to be present.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I pray that you’d help my friends and me just BE yours this year. That we would find our worth in you and nothing else. That we’d place value in the enjoyment of our ordinary and mundane lives and that there would be a romantisize of our lives and live them well and mindfully. That you’d help us to fall in love with you and with our current life. I thank you for everything you’ve done for us. Thank you for being in control of it all. I pray that you’d help us see ourselves through your eyes and that we’d discover the beauty, gifts, joy, peace, and hope that you’ve placed in all of us. I pray that this year will be less about doing things that don’t really impact but BEING the very person you died for. In the MIGHTY name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen, #2022 - We ready!
